NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed against Southern Connecticut State University and the alumni on Friday in the annual SCSU Alumni Meet at Moore Field House.
Top performances at the alumni meet included a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.16 by Ada Udaya in the 60-meter dash, while Tevonne Hemmans won the 600-meter run with a time of 1:23.7.
Along with Hemmans, the UNH men won the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:06.64 by Matt Dunham. Matthew Jeune jumped a height of 2.05 meters in the high jumping, finishing second, while David Thomas finished third in the long jump with a distance of 7.04 meters.
Udaya, who improved her previous qualifying mark, was helped by Alissa Howell on the women's team. Howell won the long jump with a distance of 5.07 meters. Thrower Shraya Manick was also impressive for the women, winning the shot put and finishing as the top collegiate player in the weight throw.
The men's and women's track and field teams completed their 2010 schedule with the meet and will return to action in the new year. The teams return to action at the Metropolitan Coaches Invitational in New York on January 7 at the New York Armory.
