Wilson/CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK – Chico State guard Natasha Smith was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) women's basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 22-28, it was announced on Monday. It marks the second straight week she has been honored.
Smith, a senior from Sacramento, Calif., led the Wildcats a pair of conferene wins over Cal State Stanislaus. In two games against the Warriors, she averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 46.2 percent (12-for-26) from the field, including 55.6 percent (5-for-9) from 3-point range, and was a 14-for-14 from the foul line.
In Tuesday's CCAA opener, Smith scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out six assists and collected three steals during a 74-59 victory. She came back on Saturday to contribute a season-high 28 points, collect five rebounds, three assists and one steal in an 88-80 win over Cal State Stanislaus.
Chico State resumes CCAA play on Friday when it hosts Humboldt State.

Wilson/CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK – Chico State guard Damario Sims was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) men's basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 22-28, it was announced on Monday.
Sims, a sophomore from Oakland, Calif., was named tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Wildcats to a 2-0 record at the Mac Martin Invitational in Chico. In victories over Northwest Christian and Dominican, Sims averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists a contest. He also shot 60.9 percent (14-for-23) from the field, including 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from 3-point range.
During an 85-72 victory over Northwest Christian, Sims scored 19 points, collected three rebounds and dished out three assists while shooting 70.0 percent (7-for-10) from the field. One night later, he poured in a career-high tying 21 points and tallied three rebounds in a 71-52 victory over Dominican. Sims finished the contest 7-for-13 (53.8 percent) from the field, including 55.6 percent (5-for-9) from beyond the 3-point arc.
Chico State returns to CCAA play on Friday when it hosts Humboldt State.
