Rheann Fall Garners AVCA All-American Honors

SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Monterey Bay junior outside hitter Rheann Fall was selected to the 2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American honorable mention team at the NCAA Division II level.

Fall is the first All-American in the CSUMB volleyball program and the seventh Otter in school history receive this honor.  She joins Chelsea Laning (women’s water polo, 2005), Alex Davis (women’s water polo, 2006), Nikki Smart (women's water polo, 2009), Ricky Stockton (men’s golf, 2009), Cicilia Chudivan (women’s golf, 2010) and Scott Yeakel (men’s golf, 2010).

Fall was selected to the AVCA All-West Region first team and Daktronics All-West Region first team.  She garnered national recognition in October by being selected Sports Import/AVCA National Player of the Week, another first in school history.

“I am pleased that Rheann has been recognized by the AVCA as one of the top players in Division II,” said head coach Jody Garry. “She certainly deserves it.”

Fall broke her own season record with 422 kills this season, just one more than last year. She jumped to the top of the list in points per set (5.08) and kills per set (4.44).
