Millersville, Pa. - No. 10 Millersville needed only one score to dispatch Seton Hill on Saturday at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. Brittany Anderson (Wrightsville/Eastern York) broke a scoreless tie four minutes into the second half to give Millersville a 1-0 win and its eighth victory of the season--the most by the program since 1999.
The Marauders (8-9) and Griffins (10-7) took a 0-0 game into the half, but 4:18 into the second period, Millersville struck. With plenty of traffic in front of Seton Hill keeper Brittany Parker, Ashley Weber (Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) fired a shot that was saved by defensive player Kinsey McKendrick. Anderson won a scrum for the loose ball and pushed it past Parker for her first goal of the season.
Despite not scoring, the Millersville offense continued to control play. Millersville fired 11 of its 15 shots and six of its eight penalty corners in the second half. Seton Hill hardly threatened Millersville keeper Sara Dickinson (Millersville/Lancaster Mennonite). Dickinson recorded her seventh shutout of the season while not making a save.
Millersville hosted a "Play 4 the Cure" event Saturday, as well. The team worse pink accessories and special t-shirts during warm-ups to raise awareness for breast cancer.
The Marauders play two of their final three games at home and all three are against teams ranked in the top six in the nation. Millersville hosts C.W. Post on Nov. 2. Game time is 4 p.m.
