PSAC East Player of the Week
Tamir Johnson, Kutztown
F, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter
Johnson scored a career-high 24 points and equaled his career best with 18 rebounds to help the Golden Bears defeat Goldey-Beacom in their only game of the week. Johnson shot an impressive 8-of-13 from the floor (61.5 percent) and was 8-of-9 (88.9 percent) from the free throw line and also had a pair of assists in the win. He scored 16 of his 24 points in the first half to help Kutztown establish a 14-point halftime lead. It marked his ninth career double-double in a Kutztown uniform and his first this season.
PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Dylan Edgar, Shippensburg
F/C, Fr., Shiremanstown, Pa./Mechanicsburg
Edgar recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to help Shippensburg to a 78-64 win over Wilmington in the Red Raiders’ lone game of the week. He also added an assist, a steal and four blocked shots as he helped the Raiders to a win in a game in which only eight players were available in the second half due to injuries. Edgar made 4-of-5 shots from the field and was also part of a stellar defensive effort that saw the Raiders hold the Wildcats to just 7-of-33 shooting (21 percent) from the field in the second half, which included a five-minute stretch in which they went scoreless during a crucial Shippensburg run.
PSAC West Player of the Week
Maron Brown, Slippery Rock
F, Sr., Salisbury, Md./Wicomico
Brown notched his fourth double-double in as many games this year for The Rock by scoring 28 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in only 26 minutes of action to help Rock defeat Chestnut Hill 77-61 in Rock’s only game of the week. Brown shot 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from the floor and also hit on a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the win. He also notched an assist and two steals. The win was the second straight for The Rock, which evened its record at 2-2 for the season.
PSAC West Freshman of the Week
Kelvin Agee, Gannon
G, Fr., Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls
Agee averaged 16.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in helping Gannon win the tournament title at its own Gary Miller Classic with wins over Cedarville and Northern Michigan. Agee was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament. The redshirt freshman led the team in scoring with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting in his debut against Cedarville while also adding four assists and three rebounds. He then scored 15 points and had three assists and two boards in the championship game against Northern Michigan and was key as he scored six points in a 12-4 run late in the second half that extended a one-point Gannon lead to nine. For the weekend, Agee shot 50 percent from the floor (12-of-24) and was 5-of-13 (38.5 percent) from the free throw line.
