PSAC East Player of the Week
Aurielle Mosley, Millersville
F, So., York, Pa./Central York
Mosley averaged 14.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks to help Millersville to a pair of wins last week. The sophomore shot 59.1 percent from the floor (13-for-22), was a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe, and added a pair of steals. In a 61-51 win over Holy Family, Mosley scored 16 points, pulled down 17 rebounds, blocked six shots and went 7-of-10 from the floor while making both free throws. Then, in a 60-57 road win over Philadelphia, she scored 13 points and had 13 boards, including seven offensive, while making 6-of-12 shots from the floor.
PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Megan Touhey, Mansfield
G, Fr., Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell
In Mansfield’s only game of the week, a 68-58 win over Houghton, Touhey helped the Mountaineers rally back from an early deficit with a season-high 15 points to go along with three assists, three steals and a rebound. Touhey connected on 6-of-10 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 on three-pointers to help Mansfield improve to 3-1 on the season.
PSAC West Co-Player of the Week
Kayla Smith, California
F, Sr., Elkins, W.Va./Elkins
Smith helped California to a pair of wins at its own Thanksgiving Tournament by averaging 18.0 points, 17.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game as she posted a pair of double-doubles. She did so on 55.2 percent shooting from the floor (16-for-29) and also made 4-of-7 from the free throw line. Against Wilmington on Saturday, Smith finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds, four blocks and two steals despite playing only six minutes in the second half. Against Molloy on Sunday, she posted 13 points and 17 more rebounds while her defensive effort helped the Vulcans limit the Lions to only 28 points and a .164 field goal percentage.
PSAC West Co-Player of the Week
Amy Achesinski, Mercyhurst
F, Sr., Butler, Pa./Butler
Achesinski averaged a double-double with 20.7 points and 10.7 to help Mercyhurst to a 2-1 record at the Mount McKinley Bank North Star Invitational hosted by Alaska-Fairbanks. She did so by shooting 56.8 percent from the floor (25-for-44) and making 12-of-19 free throws while also adding 3.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game. After just missing out on a double-double in a loss to Fort Lewis with 13 points and eight rebounds, she scored 30 points, including eight in the overtime sessions, on 12-of-19 shooting and also had 10 rebounds in a 68-64 overtime win over the host Nanooks. Achesinski then had 19 points and 14 rebounds in a 65-52 win over Dominican (Calif.) to end the tournament.
PSAC West Freshman of the Week
Jennifer Papich, Gannon
F, Fr., Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel
Papich is the PSAC West Freshman of the Week for the second straight week after averaging 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Gannon. She started the week by notching her first double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-51 win over Molloy, helping spark an 18-3 run by scoring 11 points in a four-minute span. The following night in a 75-50 win over Wilmington, she scored six points and added seven rebounds and two assists. For the weekend, Papich shot 8-of-19 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
