Gianna Messina Garners Season's First Player Of The Week Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. - Tampa senior guard Gianna Messina has been named Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending November 28.

Messina, a native of Tampa, Fla. led the Spartans to a split in a pair of games played in Denver, Colo. Messina averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, two assists, and two steals per game. She tallied 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a 64-63 loss to Colorado Mines. She then posted 26 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal to lead UT to an 84-61 win over host Regis. In two contests, Messina shot 49 percent (16-of-33) from the field, 52 percent (11-of-21) from three-point range, and 78 percent (7-of-9) at the free throw line.
