ANNAPOLIS, MD—The Bloomsburg University wrestling team finished third a the Navy Classic on Saturday in Annapolis. The Huskies totaled 61 points to the 135.4 for Navy and 78 for second place Bucknell.
The Huskies had 10 placewinners on the day with Josh Roosa (Mountaintop, Crestwood) (149) and Nate Graham (Selkirk, NY, Ravena) (184) both taking second; Frank Hickman (Castle Hayne, NC, E.L. Laney) (157) and Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ, Middlesex) (174) both getting a third place; while Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ, St. Marks) (125), Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY, Greene Central) (133), Derek Shingara (Shamokin, Shamokin) (141), Richard Perry (Meriden, CT, Middletown) (197) all finishing fourth. Taking fifth place was Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Valley) (157) with Zac Walsh (Denville, NJ, Morris Knolls) (285) finishing sixth.
At 149 Roosa, the top seed, scored a win by fall, major decision and decision to reach the finals where he lost 5-2 to second seeded Eric Filipowicz of the Naval Academy.
At 184 pounds, Graham, seeded second, won his opening match by fall, then scored a win by major decision in the semi-finals. In the finals against top seed Luke Rebertus of Navy, Graham suffered a 2-1, tie breaker defeat.
Bloomsburg wrestles at the Northeast Duals next Saturday.
