Grizzlies women's soccer set to honor seniors at Murphy Field on Sunday

Grizzlies will also attempt to break the women's soccer attendance record at season final.

ALAMOSA - The Adams State College women's soccer team will close out its 2010 campaign against Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday at Murphy Field, but before action gets underway the Grizzlies will take a moment to recognize a pair of graduating seniors, Bry Aiken and Theresa Zackary.

Aiken, a goalie from Lawrence, Kan., came to Adams State following two years at Hutchinson Community College. An elementary education major, Aiken saw action in one game during the 2009 season, and has played 26 minutes this season, making one save and allowing zero goals. A hard-worker both on the field and in the classroom, Aiken has earned A.D.'s Honor Roll recognition following both of her semesters at Adams State.

Zackary, a defender from Salina, Kan., has seen action in 32 matches in her four years at Adams State. As a sophomore during the Grizzlies' 2007 campaign, she played in all 19 matches, starting 18. A biology major is also pursuing a minor in bio-chemistry, Zackary has been on the A.D.'s Honor Roll six times in her ASC academic career, and has twice been named to the Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll (2007 & 2009).

In addition to recognizing both Aiken and Zackary prior to Sunday's contest, the Grizzlies will also take a moment to thank the parents of the Adams State women's soccer program for their support and dedication as well.

Kick-off on Sunday is at 1 p.m. at Murphy Field, and Senior Day & Parent's Day presentations will begin approximately 15 minutes before the start of the match.

The Grizzlies are also inviting all friends and fans to head over to Murphy Field beginning at 11:30 a.m. to help them break the Adams State women's soccer attendance record at Sunday's match. The first 300 fans will receive a free lunch, including a hamburger, hot dog, chips and drink, and fans will have the opportunity to win ASC apparel during pre-game and halftime contests.
