Lewis’ Kathryn Hague Repeats As Women’s Cross Country All-American

Chicago native is top GLVC performer and places 28th overall with time of 22:02.6.

Louisville, Ky. – Lewis University senior Kathryn Hague (Chicago, Ill./Mt. Assisi) became the fourth Flyer in school-history to repeat as an All-American, as the Chicago, Ill., native placed 28th overall with a time of 22:02.6 at the 6K NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country Championships at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park on Saturday (Dec. 4) morning.

Lewis’ Malgorzata Biela, Magdalena Paszta and Kasia Arient were the last Flyers to repeat as All-Americans in 1997, as that squad tied for second as a team at the National Championships.

The top 40 finishers in the race earn All-America status. Hague finished 40th last year, but drew on that experience to help her on Saturday.

“Kathryn went out in the top 30, ran a real controlled race and brought it home,” Lewis head women’s cross country coach Dana Schwarting said. “The biggest difference between this year and last is that she wasn’t nearly as nervous and much more relaxed.”

Hague was also the top finisher from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
