Larry Webster Powers Bloomsburg Men's Basketball to Win

HARRISBURG--Larry Webster III (Elkton, MD, Elkton)scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Bloomsburg University men's basketball team to an 88-81 win over Central Penn College on Tuesday night.

The Knights took an early lead in the game jumping out to a 13-7 lead through the first eight minutes of the game. Bloomsburg rallied and went on top 16-15 with 11:09 left in the first half on a three-pointer by Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown, Norristown). The Huskies later built the lead to five 23-18 after Webster hit one of two free throws and led by three at halftime, 33-30.

Central Penn came out and tied the game at 37-all with 17:13 to play in the game after a three pointer by Montez Lacey. From there though, the Huskies put together an 11-2 run highlighted by seven points from Webster and four from Trevon Johnson (Snow Hill, MD, Snow Hill) pushing the lead to 48-39.

Central Penn cut the deficit back to three points with an 8-2 run making it a 50-47 game.The Huskies though outscored Central Penn 9-3 over a three minute stretch for its biggest lead of the night at 59-50.  The Knights came back with a 9-2 run of its own to trim the lead back to two points, 61-59, with 7:12 to go.

Dontahe Jordan (Williamsport, Williamsport) scored six of the Huskies next eight points and the lead was back to six at 69-63. Then later, with Bloomsburg holding just a four point lead, Antoine Ellison-Love (Williamsport, Loyalsock) hit a three-pointer with the shot clock winding down to make it a 74-67 lead with 2:25 to play.

Central Penn would get to within five points, but no closer as the Huskies hit seven of 10 free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.

Along with Webster's 28 points, Johnson added 22 points and Jordan 20 for Bloomsburg. Love also finished with a career-high 11 points for the Huskies.

Central Penn,6-6, was led by Montez Lacey with 22 points, while Latif Parkes added 17.

Bloomsburg will play at Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday at 3 p.m.
