Czerniewski Headlines Four Football Mules on All-Region Team

(Warrensburg, Mo.) – The University of Central Missouri Mules football squad had four student-athletes named to the Daktronics All-Super Region 4 team Wednesday, and senior quarterback Eric Czerniewski became the first ever Region Offensive Player of the Year for the Mules.

Czerniewski (Montgomery City, Mo.) leads the nation in passing yards (4,995), touchdown passes (44), and total offense (4,986). He also shattered every single-season passing record at UCM and in the MIAA, and ranks second in NCAA single-season passing. He was named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Year, and to the conference and region first-teams. He is also one of nine finalists for the Harlon Hill Award, given to the nation’s top player.

He was joined on the first team by two other offensive seniors in Jamorris Warren (Belle Glade, Fla.) and DeMarco Cosby (Kansas City, Mo.). Senior running back Anthony Stewart (Plainfield, Ill.) was named to the second team.

Cosby, who is a two-time All-American, owns every tight end receiving record at Central Missouri, and ranks among the career top three in yards (2,105), touchdown grabs (20), and catches (136). He has the third-most catches in a season in school history with 66, ranking behind only teammates Warren and Stewart this season. He also has 929 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns this year as well.

Warren led the MIAA with 104 catches, and broke the school records for receptions, yards (1,403), and TD grabs (20). He is also the all-time leader in touchdown catches with 24. He received first-team All-MIAA honors as well.

Each of the three first-team selections advance to the national ballot for All-American consideration.
Stewart led the MIAA in all-purpose yards (161.7), while becoming the only player in school history to record 1,000 career yards both rushing and receiving. He has the second-highest catch total in school history with 73 this year, while putting up 826 yards and five TD’s. He also racked up 1,046 rushing yards with 15 TD’s on the ground. He was named an honorable mention All-American as an all-purpose back a year ago.

Central Missouri (11-2) is in the NCAA-II Playoff Quarterfinals this Saturday against Northwest Missouri State (11-1) at 1:05 p.m. in Maryville at Bearcat Stadium.
