Catawba Women's Basketball rolls past Saint Paul's 94-58

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba got 17 points apiece by Milica Ivanovic (Belgrade, SERBIA/Sports High/Bethel) and Dana Hicks (York, SC/Gaston Day) in posting a 94-58 win over visiting Saint Paul’s in women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians improve to 6-4, while the Tigers fall to 1-3.

Kisha Long (Dallas, NC/Gaston Day) opened the game with a three-pointer and Catawba led the rest of the way in cruising to the win. An 11-0 run early in the contest gave the Lady Indians a 17-4 cushion with 13:45 to go in the first half. Taylor May (China Grove, NC/S. Rowan HS) hit consecutive baskets to put Catawba up 23-10 at the 10:54 mark and the Lady Indians held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Catawba continued to pull away and went up 51-23 following an Ivanovic three-pointer. The Lady Indians held a 52-30 lead at the break. Catawba shot 50% in the opening half and canned 18-of-21 at the line. Hicks had all 10 of her first-half points from the stripe.

Freshman Courtney Mull (Sanford, NC/Fayetteville Christian) came off the bench for Catawba to add 13 points and nine rebounds. Long provided a dozen points and five steals. All 11 Catawba players in uniform scored in the contest.

Deaudra Brown (Rocky Mount, NC) scored 19 points for the Tigers, while Alisha Hardley (Stafford, VA) posted a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Jasmine Stewart (Washington, DC) added 10 points.

Saint Paul’s shot just 29% in the contest and committed 29 turnovers. The Tigers held a 53-51 edge on the glass and pulled down 25 offensive rebounds. Catawba shot 42% for the game and was 29-of-41 at the line.
