Warriors fall to #8 Cal State San Bernardino

TURLOCK– The Cal State Stanislaus Warriors were defeated by #8 Cal State San Bernardino in four sets (19-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14) Friday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match.

The Warriors fall to 11-13 overall and 8-11 in the CCAA.  The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes, clinching the conference title after last weeks matches, improves to 22-2 overall and 18-1 in the conference play.

Lianne Vicchio led the Warriors and matched her season high of 20 kills and hit .350 on the night.  Melissa Bishop followed with 10 kills.  Kaycee Gow and Eva Chafeh had five kills a piece.

Defense was a strong point for Stanislaus with Megan Britton leading with 20 kills.  Vicchio and Chafeh also contributed in the back row with 10 digs each.

Jessica Lehner led the team with 38 assists.

Leaders for the Coyotes were Jane Chafeh with 12 kills, Kelcie Tolan with 11 digs, Krista Hasemeyer with 28 assists.  Mercedes Winchester and Chafeh were dominant at the net with 4 blocks each.

The Warriors will face Cal Poly Pomona on their senior night, saturday at 7 p.m. in the Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
