SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams each picked up a Sunshine State Conference victory over Saint Leo University, with the men winning 112-87 and the women by a 117-68 score.
UT took the lead in the first men's event, winning the 400 Medley Relay behind Andrew Johnson, Jonathan Wilks, David Humphrey and Hunter Lineback. The quartet finished with a time of 3:40.28.
Chris O'Linger led the Spartans in the individual races, winning a pair including the 1,000 Free (9:58.80) and 200 Fly (1:58.56).
Other Spartan men who won their respective races were David Humphrey in the 200 Free (1:51.69), Hunter Lineback in the 400 IM (4:19.26), Jordan Nowakowski in the 200 Back (2:05.06) and Cory Lewis in the 500 Free 5:11.48.
In women's action, the Spartans had a similar start as the men, winning the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Caroline Belli, Lisa Bero, Lindsay Calimer and Heather Glenday posted a first-place time of 3:36.07.
Tampa also won six individual races, including Alex Hipolito in the 200 Free (1:59.50), Kelsey Lubbers in the 400 IM (4:48.46), Catherine Patrell in the 200 Fly (2:14.32), Glenday in the 100 Free (54.70), Belli in the 200 Back (2:15.43) and Bero in the 500 Free (5:16.35).
The Spartans are back in the pool on Saturday at Rollins in another SSC meet. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
