MIAA Announces 2010 All-Conference Soccer Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Seven members of the 2010 MIAA Champion Central Missouri soccer team were named All-MIAA First Team to headline the all-conference team released Thursday by the league office. The selections were made by the league's nine head coaches, and coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Central Missouri junior midfielder Alyssa Rhodes was selected as the MIAA Player of the Year after leading the Jennies to a perfect season (18-0 overall, 16-0 MIAA). The Olathe, Kan., product finished fourth in the conference in shots, taking 46 on the season, and ended the regular season with 12 total points from the midfield position. Rhodes was also a unanimous All-MIAA First Team selection, the third consecutive year she has made the first team.

Central Missouri forward Carly Stanley is the MIAA Freshman of the Year after a season in which she tied for the league lead in points (19), goals (8) and game-winning goals (4). Stanley was alone atop the conference leaders in points per game (1.12) and goals per game (0.47). The Desoto, Kan., native was an All-MIAA First Team selection as well.

Central Missouri head coach Lewis Theobald was voted MIAA Coach of the Year for the third time after guiding the Jennies to an undefeated season and their third MIAA Championship in four years. Central Missouri earned the No. 2 seed in the South Central Region for the 2010 NCAA Division II Tournament. The Jennies will serve as the host for one half of the regional tournament and will have a first-round bye.

Truman had the second-most first team honorees with four, followed by Southwest Baptist with one.

Truman (No. 6 seed) will play Midwestern State (No. 3 seed) in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament Friday at 1 p.m. CT in Warrensburg, and the winner will face No. 2 seed Central Missouri in the second round Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
