They will face No. 7 seed Wayne State (Neb.) on Thursday in Marshall, Minn. Metro State is one of seven schools to reach the Division II tournament each year since 2000.
Southwest Minnesota State (26-3) earned the top seed in the region, followed by No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul (26-4), No. 3 Wayne State (26-3), No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney (29-4), No. 5 Minnesota Duluth (23-5), No. 6 Metro State (24-6), No. 7 Minnesota State (20-7) and No. 8 Colorado Mines (19-9).

Last season, the Roadrunners won two matches to reach the Central Region championship where they fell to eventual national champion and now three-time defending national champion, Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.). The two wins were the most in a postseason in school history.
This will be the first meeting all-time between Metro State and Wayne State.
