Lynn Men’s Hoops Falls To Florida Atlantic, 81-61, in Exhibition Play

Boca Raton, Fla. – Lynn University’s men’s basketball team fell to cross-town Division I rival Florida Atlantic, 81-61, in exhibition play Monday night at FAU Arena.  Jimmy Gaskins led the Fighting Knights with 15 points while Josh Garcia chipped in with 13.

Gaskins made five-of-seven shots from the field and went an identical five-of-seven from the line while Garcia sank three three-pointers.  Fellow newcomers Terrell Williams and Craig Brown both had solid nights in their debuts in the Blue & White combining for 17 points and eight rebounds.  Bo Jukic had a team-high eight rebounds.

Lynn managed to stay close early in the game but the size and athleticism of the owls was too much as FAU raced out to a 38-28 halftime lead.  Kore White led four FAU players in double figures with 17 while Brett Royster added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

The Fighting Knights shot just 40.7% from the field and made just 14-of-26 free throws while the Owls converted 18 Lynn turnovers into 24 points.

LU opens its regular season Saturday, November 13, when they take on Northern Michigan at the PBA Tip-Off Classic I West Palm Beach, Fla.  Tipoff is slated for 5:00 pm.
