HSU’S Hardesty, UNA's Bryant and VSU's Fulford named GSC Football Players of the Week

Henderson State quarterback Nick Hardesty (SR, 6-0, 205, Salina, KS), North  Alabama linebacker Harrison Bryant (SR, 6-0, 210, Troy, AL) and Valdosta State punter Jack Fulford (JR, 5-10, 207, Waycross, GA) are the Gulf South Conference Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for the period ending October 30th.

Hardesty earns his second straight honor, fourth overall this season, leading the Reddies to a 35-26 home victory over Ouachita Baptist in the “Battle of the Ravine.”  The senior became HSU’s single-season (3,362) and career passing leader (4,609), completing 37-of-56 passes for 420 yards and five touchdowns.  The Salina, KS native guided Henderson State to a 21-7 halftime lead thanks to three first-half passing scores and helped keep the lead in the second half with two more TD throws.  Hardesty passed for over 400 yards in a game for the fifth time this season.

Bryant is the second UNA defensive honoree this season.  The senior spearheaded the Lions’ defense to a 31-7 road upset of Delta State, 31-7.  The Troy, AL native posted a game-high 11 total tackles, led by a game-best eight solo stops and one tackle for a loss of four yards.  He also nabbed his first interception of the year, which halted a DSU drive at the North Alabama 35-yard line.

Fulford earns his fourth career award, third this season, helping lead VSU to a 21-7 road win over Arkansas Tech.  The junior boomed eight punts for 359 yards for a 44.9 average and only allowed 19 return yards.  The Waycross, GA native placed two balls inside the ATU 20-yard line and nailed two punts further than 50 yards.
