Harris, Blakely Named to LSC All-Academic Team

RICHARDSON, Texas – West Texas A&M Cross-Country runners Thomas Harris and Jessica Blakely were each named to the 2010 Lone Star Conference All-Academic team and Blakely was named the Academic Runner of the Year on the women’s side, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Harris, a senior biology major from Amarillo, competed in all four events for the Buffs this season. He placed among the top 20 in all four events and took home his best finish of the season just a little over a week ago, coming in ninth overall at the East Central Tiger Chase in Ada, Okla.

Blakely, sophomore finance major from Hereford, competed in all five events the Lady Buffs entered. She had two top-40 performances to go with three top-10 finishes. Her best finish came just last week at the Angelo State Blue/Gold Classic as she placed fourth overall, helping the Lady Buffs win the overall title on the women’s side.

Both Harris and Blakely will be competing in the upcoming LSC Championships, which are set to get underway this Saturday, Nov. 6, in Abilene.
