GANNON’S KIMBALL NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT FIRST TEAM

ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s Connor Kimball (Erie, Pa./McDowell) has been named to the ESPN Academic All-District 2 football first team released Thursday afternoon. As a result, he will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Kimball has recorded 22 tackles, four interceptions and six pass break-ups through nine games this season. The senior cornerback ranks second among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) players and 41st among all NCAA Division II players in interceptions per game (0.44). In addition, he ranks sixth among PSAC players in pass break-ups per game (1.11).

A PSAC Scholar-Athlete, Kimball owns a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average as a Psychology major. The Erie, Pa., native ranks 10th all-time at Gannon with six career interceptions. He had game-ending interceptions during victories against Lake Erie (26-20) and Mercyhurst (14-10).

The 2010 ESPN Academic All-America teams are scheduled to be released Tuesday, November 23.

Gannon concludes the road portion of its schedule Saturday, November 6 at Slippery Rock. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Golden Knights can clinch back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1995 with a victory.
