Gannon Cross Country Teams Record Pair of 14th-Place Finishes at 2010 PSAC Championships

CALIFORNIA, Pa. - The Gannon cross country teams began post-season action with a pair of 14th-place finishes at the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships hosted by California (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.

Shippensburg won the women’s team title with 25 points, easily out-distancing Edinboro’s 104 points. Slippery Rock (115), Kutztown (144) and Millersville (146) completed the top five. Gannon finished 14th with 374 points.

Neely Spence of Shippensburg was the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 20 minutes and 52 seconds. Rosie Cooper (Falconer, N.Y./Falconer) was Gannon’s top female runner, finishing 63rd overall with a time of 25 minutes and 12 seconds.

Noelle Blank (65th, 25:15), Madison Steward (71st, 25:32), Christina Estes (87th, 26:06), Emily Reinhart (88th, 26:16), Jenna Szczepanski (90th, 26:21) and Kenzi Buckham (103rd, 28:05) also competed for the Lady Knights.

Shippensburg completed the championship sweep by winning the men’s title with 24 points. Lock Haven (59), Edinboro (61), Slippery Rock (148) and East Stroudsburg (151) rounded out the top five. Gannon placed 14th with 425 points.

Edinboro’s Scott Anderson secured the men’s individual gold medal with a time of 26 minutes and 16 seconds. Adam Walker (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) was Gannon’s top male runner, finishing 77th with a time of 29 minutes and 41 seconds.

C.J. Kennett (83rd, 30:07), Mike Holovka (84th, 30:10), Carter Denne (85th, 30:11), Joe Karmazin (96th, 31:19), Drew Tordella (97th, 31:19) and Andy Hellman (98th, 31:56) completed Gannon’s scoring team.

Both Gannon cross country teams return to action Saturday, November 20 at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional hosted by St. Augustine (N.C.) University.
