WINTER HAVEN, FLA., November 27, 2010 - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team dropped a 77-60 verdict to Florida Tech Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Rollins College Thanksgiving Classic.
Sophomore Deaven Omohundro led the Tritons with career-bests of 11 points and five assists in the loss as UMSL tumbles to 3-2 on the season. Florida Tech improves to 5-1.
Both teams started off slow, scoring just six points each in the opening nine minutes. Florida Tech then found its grove, using a 25-11 run over the next 10 minutes to take a 31-17 lead at the 1:31 mark en route to a 33-24 halftime lead.
The Tritons committed 29 turnovers and were out-rebounded 45-32. UMSL also had two players foul out, while three others finished the game with four fouls which led to a 29-of-44 free throw outing for the Panthers, while UMSL was 16-of-26 at the line.
Senior Kelcy Hulbert and junior KeAmber Vaughn each finished with 10 points, while junior Kiki Robinson had a team-best five rebounds.
UMSL connected on 40.8 percent from the floor, while holding the Panthers to 35 percent shooting. Ashton McClairen had a game-high 20 points for Florida Tech.
The Tritons return to action Thursday, hosting Wisconsin-Parkside in the home and GLVC opener at 5:30 p.m.
