Armstrong Men's Cross Country Finishes Ninth At PBC Championships

EVANS, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University men's cross country team finished ninth at the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday morning, wrapping up the Pirates' second season of competition since reinstating the sport in 2009.

The Pirates finished the meet with 261 points. Columbus State claimed the PBC Championships with 31 points, followed by UNC Pembroke (63), Clayton State (83), Georgia College (97) and Augusta State (102) rounding out the top five. Flagler (121), Montevallo (202) and Francis Marion (217) rounded out the scoring among the nine conference schools.

Freshman Eric Van Deventer led the Pirates individually, finishing 47th with a time of 31:06. Sophomore David Prussia set a new personal best over the 8k course with a time of 32:24 to finish 52nd, while freshman Josiah Siegel ran a time of 32:25 to finish 53rd. Sophomore Adam Doyle finished 54th in a time of 33:06 and freshman Garrett Austin rounded out the team scoring, finishing 55th with a time of 33:54. Freshman Ryan Kozusko finished 57th in a time of 34:20 while freshman Scott Lawson could not start the race due to an injury.
