Albany State Lady Rams defeat Tuskegee Tigerettes in non-conference play

Albany State University’s Jillian Anderson recorded 12 kills and a block to lead the Lady Rams to a 3-1 victory over the Tuskegee Tigerettes Wednesday night. The Lady Rams cruised to 25-12 and 25-13 wins in the first two games, but dropped the third game 21-25. The Lady Rams bounced back in game four to win 15-14. The victory gave the Lady Rams their third consecutive win. The Lady Rams improved their record to 16-10 on the season and 10-5 in SIAC play.

Sabrina Garcia added seven kills and five digs for the Lady Rams, and Desiree Hardy added six kills. Tiffany Butler, Kenya Jolicoeur and Priscila Sena added five each. Sena also recorded 35 assists and eight digs. Jennifer Johnson led the Lady Rams’ defense with 17 digs, and Adrienne Morris added seven.

The Lady Rams honored four senior during pre-game activities. Seniors Latrice Lewis, Latoya Jackson, Jortoria Walker and Sena were honored for their dedication to the ASU volleyball program.

The Lady Rams picked up a 3-1 win over the Alabama State University Lady Hornets Tuesday night, and a 3-1 victory over the Paine College Lady Lions on Friday, Oct. 29.

The Lady Rams will play their final home game of the season against the Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats on Friday, Nov. 5, at HPER Gymnasium in Albany. Fans are asked to bring and donate canned food items for a Thanksgiving food drive.

The Lady Rams will compete for their 10th consecutive and 11th SIAC championship title during the 2010 SIAC Championship Tournament on Nov. 10-12 at Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY. ASU teams won SIAC titles in 1998, and 2001 through 2009. More information about the upcoming tournament will be released at a later date.
