THE COACHES AND ALL-TIME SERIES
SBU head coach Jeff Guiot continues in his seventh season on the Bearcat bench, where he has won three MIAA regular season titles, and compiled a 132-57 (.698) record. Coach Guiot has led the ‘Cats to an MIAA Tournament appearance each season, and three NCAA Tournament appearnaces. Last season, SBU won 20 games for the third consecutive season, marking the first time in the history of the program the feat has been accomplished.
Jack Schrader is in his 16th season on the Truman bench, where he has compiled a 160-259 record. Truman claimed the 1999 MIAA Tournament Championship, and reached the Elite Eight, it’s best season to date under Schrader.
SBU leads the all-time series with Truman, 26-17,as the Bearcats have taken the last five meetings. Although Truman has struggled in the series as of late, they won three straight over the Bearcats as recently as 2006-08.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARCATS
Three Bearcats scored at least 20 points as SBU led the entire way in a 93-81 win over the Lincoln Blue Tigers. Tomas Brock led the ‘Cats with 25 points, while Ryan Dougherty and Stephen Cotten each had 20.
Freshman Zach Kleine scored in double-figures for the third time of his career, with 11 points off 4-of-7 shooting.
Cotten brought down eight rebounds, just two shy of the season’s first double-double. Only Kurtis Koenig and Robson Memnon have come closer, each grabbing nine boards at Missouri S&T earlier this season.
Brock went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, after his 6-for-6 performance in his last game against Central Missouri. The Mount Vernon native dished out seven assists, the most this season by any Bearcat. Brock was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, matching his percentage from the game against Central Bible College last month.
