PSAC Women's Basketball Athletes of the Week

PSAC Players of the Week - Dec. 13

PSAC East Player of the Week
Alex Lennon, West Chester
F, So.,     Lansdowne, Pa./Shipley School

Lennon is the PSAC East Player of the Week for hte second straight week after averagubg 16.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.5 steals per game in leading West Chester to a 2-0 week with wins over Lincoln and Bowie State. She shot 50 percent from the floor (14-for-28) and did everything in only 24.5 minutes per game. Lennon postyed a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds in the win over Bowie State and had 13 points and nine boards in just 19 minutes against Lincoln.


PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Ashley Giedemann, Shippensburg
F, Fr., Washington Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.

Giedemann averaged 16.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game to help Shippensburg to a 2-1 week. She scored in double figures in each game and shot 53.6 percent from the floor (15-for-28), including 6-of-8 from three-point range (75 percent) and also made an impressive 14-of-16 free throws (87 percent). Giedemann led all players with 18 points and also had eight rebounds in a win over West Virginia Wesleyan despite playing just 21 minutes. She also made all four of her three-point attempts in that game. In a win over IUP, she posted a team-high 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor and a 9-for-10 performance from the charity stripe. She ended her week with 10 points and four boards in a loss to California.


PSAC West Player of the Week
Danielle Smith, Slippery Rock
F, Jr.,     LaGrange, Ga./Troup

Smith recorded her first career double-double and ended the week averaging one with 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds to help lead Slippery Rock to its first win of the season and a 1-1 overall record on the week. Smith shot 52 percent from the floor (13-for-25) and also made 10-of-15 free throws and averaged 3.0 steals. She started out the week by scoring 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds in a loss to Pitt-Johnstown. Later in the week, she scored a game-high 17 points and hauled in 13 boards while also recording five steals to help The Rock to a 67-64 win over Notre Dame College, which snapped an eight-game winning streak.


PSAC West Freshman of the Week
Darche’ Jackson, Edinboro
G, Fr.,     Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills

Jackson averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting an impressive 65.2 percent from the field (15-of-23) and 71.4 percent from beyond the arc (5-for-7) in a 1-1 week for Edinboro. In a win over Davis & Elkins, Jackson scored 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-6 from three-point range, and also contributed three rebounds, three assists, a block and two steals. In a one-point loss to Concord, Jackson had 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and also added four rebounds and a pair of assists and steals.
