Ogilvie Awarded Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention

Redshirt freshman earns honor after a solid season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Men’s Soccer) – Florida Tech’s Gary Ogilvie can add yet another accolade to his resume after being named Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention on Thursday. Last month, the midfielder from Hullbridge, England was named All-Sunshine State Conference First Team and Daktronics All-South Region First Team.

In his redshirt freshman season, Ogilvie helped his team advance to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championship. In 15 games, he scored seven goals and tacked on eight assists to finish the year with a team-high 22 points.

He tallied four points in a single-game twice this season, against Georgia Southwestern State and Johnson & Wales. He also registered a goal in back-to-back games on three occasions.

Northern Kentucky’s Steven Beattie was named Ron Lenz National Player of the Year. The honor is his second of his four-year career. This season, he aided in Northern Kentucky advancing to the NCAA Division II semifinals after scoring 24 goals and contributing 64 points.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men’s soccer selected the All-America teams.
