MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College baseball’s annual fall intersquad World Series begins Friday, Nov. 5, with action going up to Nov. 14 if necessary. The series signals the end of fall practice for the 2010 NCAA Division II World Series participants, and is free and open to the public.
The teams were drafted earlier this week. Graduate assistant coach Steve Moritz will head up the Mocats, and the tandem of student assistant coaches Jamie Ammons and Paul Bordon will take the reigns of Ammo’s Army. The Army won last year’s series in a seven-game thriller, and looks to defend the title.
Action kicks off with game one Friday at 5 p.m., with senior righty Eric Pettepher (Gordon, Ga.) taking to the hill for the Army. The Mocats will counter with junior Division I transfer Walker McKinven (Lake Bluff, Ill.).
Saturday’s first pitch of game two will come at 4 p.m. The Army sends out junior righty Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.), a transfer from Division I Oakland University. Moritz counters with one of last year’s postseason heroes, senior lefty Jason Nicholas (Wright City, Mo.).
Sunday’s matchup is senior righty Ryan Parson (Madison, Ga.) for the Army and junior righty Chris George (Woodstock, Ga.) for the ‘Cats.
Action continues next Friday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m.
