(Duluth, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team traveled to #2 Minnesota Duluth this evening to take on the #2 Bulldogs. The Golden Eagles played a solid match earning seven tie scores and five lead changes but it was UMD that took the match 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-15.
Katie Miedtke (MH, 5-10, Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.) and Amanda Swann (OH, 6-0, So, Rochester, Mich.) led the UMC offense this evening with five kills each. Alyssa Krikke (MH, 6-0, Sr, Grand Rapids, Mich.) led the Golden Eagles with a .500 (4K-0E-8TA) attack percentage. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-8, Sr, Peoria, Ariz.) assisted on 10 of the team’s 24 kills while Kelsey Matykowski (S, 5-7, So., Sun Prairie, Wis.) assisted on eight kills. Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, Fr., Rochester, Minn.) earned 10 defensive digs to lead the Golden Eagle defense.
Minnesota Duluth was led by April Hansen who tallied 10 kills and a solid .529 (10K-1E-17TA) attack percentage. Eleena Iisakka led all players with 34 assists while Allison Fanta led all defenders with 19 defensive digs.
The Golden Eagles are 0-25 overall and 0-17 in NSIC play. Minnesota Duluth advances to 23-3 overall and 15-2 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston travels to Bemidji State tomorrow to play the Beavers. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
