RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the CACC announced today.
Young averaged 20.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in a 1-2 week for the Golden Falcons while shooting 59 percent from the floor. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 46th Annual Pocono Classic, hosted by East Stroudsburg University on Friday and Saturday. In Saturday’s loss to the host Warriors, he scored 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting.
Felician, the defending CACC champion, has a 2-4 won-lost record this season, including 0-1 in conference play. Young, the Golden Falcons’ all-time leading scorer, leads the team in 2010-11 and is third in the CACC with 19.3 points per game. In last Wednesday’s home loss to Concordia (N.Y.) College, he became the first Golden Falcon to ever reach 1,500 career points (currently 1,551).
