Falcons Destroy Judson, 97-27

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – In one of the most dominating victories in school history the University of Montevallo women’s basketball team (3-4) downed visiting Judson College (2-5), 97-27. The Falcons as a team scored the third-highest point total for a UM team since joining the NCAA. They also tied the record for most assists in a game and broke the single game record for steals. The Falcons had 24 assists while grabbing a school-record 31 steals. UM had all 11 players score at least four points and play at least 13 minutes each while five scored in double-figures.

Senior Carrie Parrott (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Siegel) and junior Shavonne Seymore (Hartsville, S.C./Hartsville) led the way with 14 points and six rebounds each. Junior Davia Harris (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway) added 12 points and six steals while hitting 5-of-7 from the field. Senior Jessica Collins (Jackson, Miss./Callaway) and redshirt-freshman Alex Strickland (Pinson, Ala./Clay-Chalkville) each had 10 points. Collins was 5-of-8 from the field while Strickland was 3-of-6 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Trena Moore-Smith (Charlotte, N.C./West Charlotte) led the team in rebounding with 10 despite being one of the smallest players on the floor. She also had eight points. Junior Tiffany McClure (Montgomery, Ala./G.W. Carver) led the team with six assists while scoring four points.

UM forced 42 turnovers and scored 53 points off those turnovers. UM also out-rebounded the Eagles 54-31 while having a 20-9 advantage on the offensive glass.

The 97 points is the most points scored by a UM team since 2002 when the Falcons scored 103 against Miles College.

The Falcons opened the game with a 33-1 run and never looked back as they outscored the Eagles 49-13 in the first half and 48-14 in the second half.

UM held the Eagles to just 18.4 percent from the field and only one Eagle had double-digit points as Joycelyn Seidule scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Falcons will return to action Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. as they host Agnes Scott College in a non-conference game.
