BLOOMSBURG--Four players scored in double figures to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to an easy 78-31 win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday night at the Nelson Field House.
The Huskies were in control of this game from the opening tip and got a three-pointer from Kayla Oxenrider (Ashland, Tri-Valley) just 23 seconds into the contest. Bloomsburg eventually opened up a 13-0 lead just four minutes into the game and held the Mountain Lions without a point till the 14 minute mark when Tiara Braithwaite hit a jumper.
Bloomsburg pushed its lead to 21 midway through the period, 25-4, on a three-pointer by Alyssa Flanagan (Freeland, Hazleton Area) with 9:51 to go in the half. Later the Huskies made it a 27-point edge after a steal and basket from Brianna Dudeck (Sugarloaf, Hazleton)with 4:44 to play before going to the locker room leading 37-14.
In the second half with the Huskies leading 50-24, Bloomsburg went on a 17-2 run to put the game out of reach with seven different players scoring in the rally. The Huskies biggest lead of the night was its final margin of 47 which came when Catherine Noack (Bethlehem, Liberty) hit a three-pointer with 53 seconds to go.
Dudeck and Oxenrider each scored 15 points for the Huskies, while Noack added 14 and Kelsey Gallagher (East Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South)chipped in with 11. Braithwaite scored 12 for the Mountain Lions, now 3-7 on the season.
