The historic UAA cross country season came to an end with a combined four All-America honors, as the UAA women posted their third straight top-10 finish and the men’s team claimed its first.
"I thought we had a solid finish to what amounted to as our best season ever," said head coach Michael Friess. "Both fields were very competitive and having both teams in the top 8 is a big deal."
The UAA women registered 185 points, trailing West Region foe Chico State (164), who finished fifth, while Grand Valley State (66), Western State (95) and Adams State (98) grabbed the three podium finishes. The Seawolf men’s team added its five scorers for a program-best 262 points. Adams State won the race with 57 points, followed by Western State (102) and Grand Valley State (135).
Keino led UAA with a seventh-place showing – the highest finish ever for any Seawolf woman or man at NCAAs. A junior from Kapcheno, Kenya, Keino completed the 6K course with a time of 21 minutes, 20.8 seconds, earning her second straight All-America honor.
Joining Keino on the All-American team for the second straight season was sophomore Miriam Kipng’eno. From Eldoret, Kenya, Kipng’eno raced to a time of 21:40.2 for a 12th-place finish.
