LOWELL, Mass. -- Senior forward Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ) became Felician College's all-time leading men's basketball scorer on Saturday afternoon during the Golden Falcons' 90-75 non-conference loss to Pace University at Costello Athletic Center. The game, which began the University of Massachusetts Lowell Tip-Off Classic, was the season opener for both schools.
Young entered the season needing five points to break the Felician scoring record of 1,439 established by Sadot Williams from 2002-06. He passed Williams nine minutes into the contest, and went on to score 20 points for the day. Young's 1,455 points have come in 88 career games.
Senior Kashiff Foster (Somerset, NJ) had a career-high 20 points with six rebounds for Felician, and junior Antoine Obery (Roselle, NJ) had 15 points and six rebounds. Senior C.T. Williams (Accokeek, MD) was credited with 10 assists.
Felician led for much of the first half, building as large as a nine point advantage with seven minutes, 22 seconds to play before halftime. Pace, however, oustscored the Golden Falcons, 14-6, over the final 3:40 of the period to take a 47-43 haltime lead.
The Setters quickly extended their edge to 58-48 in the early minutes of the second half. A Kashiff Foster three-point field goal and consecutive baskets by Young cut a Felician 10-point deficit to 60-57 with 12:46 to play, but the Golden Falcons never got closer. The deficit hovered between five and seven points for five minutes before Pace pulled away for a 14-point edge at the 4:22 mark.
Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA) (8-13 FG, 6-6 FT) led all scorers with 23 ponts for Pace. Teammate Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ) posted 15 points and 10 rebounds.
