UWF Volleyball Stays No. 2 in South Region Rankings

Argos Have Held 2nd Spot in All Three Polls

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of West Florida volleyball team is ranked 2nd in the latest NCAA Division II South Region volleyball rankings, it was announced today. This is the third week in a row that the Argonauts have checked in behind the University of Tampa in the South Region standings.

UWF (23-6, 9-1 Gulf South Conference) had an eventful week leading up to the latest rankings, going 3-0 against GSC competition. With their 3-0 sweep of Alabama-Huntsville on October 30, the Argos clinched their fourth consecutive GSC East championship and the right to host next week’s GSC Volleyball Tournament.

The Argonauts are also ranked nationally, holding the 23rd position in this week’s AVCA Division II Coaches Poll. Senior Chelsea Wilhoite was named GSC East Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, winning the award for the third time this season.

West Florida closes out their 2010 regular season campaign on Saturday, when they host Saint Leo at 2 pm.
