NSIC Offensive Player of the Week
#4 Sara Vance (RS, 5-8, Jr., Tampa, Fla./ Walter L. Sickles HS)
Upper Iowa
Sara Vance led the Peacock offense to a 2-0 record at home this weekend as the Peacocks won six of their seven sets played. Vance tallied 27 kills (3.86/set), added nine service aces, three blocks to average 5.43 points per set. Her 1.29 aces per set topped the league and her points were second best.
NSIC Defensive Player of the Week
#1 Shannon McGowan (DS, 5-7, Jr. Naperville, Ill. / Neuqua Valley HS)
Winona State
Shannon McGowan was great defensively for the Warriors in two victories this week. She had 60 digs in two WSU wins, posting 27 against MSU Moorhead and 33 against Minnesota, Crookston. She did her damage while only committing one return error in the two matches.
NSIC Setter of the Week
#4 Amanda Konetchy (S, 5-7, Fr., Victoria, Minn. / Chaska HS)
Concordia-St. Paul
Konetchy racked up 132 assists in nine sets for an average of 14.67 assists per set. She also added 28 digs on the defensive side of the net an average of 3.11 digs per set. She led the team to a .346 hitting percentage and a 3-0 sweep over fellow #1 Wayne State. She added four aces to her total effort as well. In the much anticipated match against #1 Wayne State Konetchy had a double double with 50 assists and 12 digs, an average of 16.6 assists per set and 4.00 digs per set. Her 12 digs were a career high. She led the Golden Bears to a .390 hitting percentage against a team that held opponents to .172 hitting percentage. On Saturday she had a very similar line as the night previously going for 43 assists and tying her career high with 12 digs. It was Konetchy’s third double double in four matches with two of them coming against #1 ranked teams.
