No. 25 UMSL Volleyball Falls to No. 11 Lewis, 3-1, in GLVC Tournament Semifinals

ROMEOVILLE, ILL. - Lewis' Danielle Mount recorded a match-high 18 kills, helping the top-seeded and No. 11 ranked Flyers to a 3-1 victory over the fifth-seeded and No. 25 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team Saturday night in semifinal round action of the 2010 GLVC Tournament.

The Flyers won by set scores of 24-26, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20 to improve to 25-4 overall, while advancing to tomorrow's championship game against second-seeded Indianapolis. It will be Lewis' fifth straight league tournament championship appearance.

UMSL, ranked seventh in this week's regional rankings, slips to 20-8 overall and will await word from the NCAA tomorrow night when the Division II bracket is revealed at 9 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.

Mount registered just three kills in the regular season meeting between the two teams in which the Tritons won, handing Lewis it's only regular season conference loss, but was effective both offensively and defensively tonight, adding eight blocks to her line as the Flyers held a 15-8 blocking advantage and hit .201 to UMSL's season low .096.

UMSL was led by a 10-kill, five-block performance from junior Weslie Gaff and a 24-dig effort from senior Carolyn Holstein. It was the libero's ninth 20-plus dig effort of the season.

Senior Kayla Kinzinger finished with 23 assists, while freshman Anna McNulty distributed 17 assists and added nine digs. Junior Kelsie Rankin added nine kills and 12 digs.
