No. 15 Gannon Women's Basketball Team Opens Regular Season This Weekend at Ferris State Tournament

The Gannon women's basketball team kicks off the 2010-11 regular season this weekend when it heads to Big Rapids, Michigan to participate in the Ferris State Tournament. The Lady Knights open the event Saturday, November 20 against Northwood (Mich.) at 11 a.m. The weekend concludes Sunday, November 21 against Ferris State at 3 p.m.

Gannon is ranked 15th in the USA Today ESPN Top 25 Preseason Coaches Poll. The Lady Knights were tabbed No. 2 in the final national poll last year after sitting at No. 1 for three consecutive weeks. The squad played two exhibition games this season against NCAA Division I opponents, falling at Dayton (101-60) and Penn State (91-58).

Two major streaks will be on the line as the 2010-11 season begins. Gannon has won 40 consecutive regular-season games, 52 straight contests when leading at halftime and 18 consecutive home games.
