No. 11 Columbus State Rifle Falls Short to No. 12 Jacksonville State 4626-4619

Jacksonville, AL– The eleventh-ranked Columbus State rifle team lost a nail-biter to No. 12 Jacksonville State Saturday afternoon at the Gamecock Rifle Range.  The Gamecocks defeated CSU by a score of 4626 to 4619.

Jon Hall led the way for the Cougars in both the air rifle and smallbore competition, shooting a 588 and 584, respectively.  Not far behind was April Dunn with an overall score of 1163 as she shot a 583 in the air rifle while shooting a 580 in the small bore.  Also scoring in the air rifle portion of the meet for Columbus State was Philip Huckaby (583) and Courtney Duncan (576).  Juli Yoder (566) and David Hall (558) also shot for CSU.

In the smallbore, Huckaby was third posting a 568 while Yoder scored for the team with a 557.  Duncan just missed out scoring in both competitions shooting a 554 while D. Hall posted a 550.

The team will take on No. 16 Memphis next weekend at the Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning.  It is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
