Harding Men's Basketball Wins Second Straight

Harding shot 61 percent and made nine first half three-pointers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Harding had an outstanding shooting effort in the first half and cruised to a 79-62 victory over Lane in men’s basketball action at the Christian Brothers Conference Challenge on Saturday at Canale Arena.

The Bisons (2-0), which won their second straight game in the Challenge, shot 60.7 percent (17-of-28) in the first half. The team hit 9-of-12 (75 percent) from three-point range and made all nine free throw attempts.

Harding led 53-30 at halftime and extended its lead to as many as 26 points in the second half.
Senior Stephen Blake, who made all three of his three-point attempts, had 14 points and a team-high seven assists. Junior Kirk Porter also had 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Sam Brown added 13 for Harding, and freshman Hayden Johnson made three three-pointers and finished with 11 points.

Lane (0-2) shot only 31 percent from the field. Jeremy Anderson, a reserve guard, led Lane with 19 points. He had four of Lane’s nine three-pointers.

Harding is back in action Thursday night in their home opener against Lambuth. Tip-off at the Rhodes Field House is at 7:30 p.m.
