Briauna Taylor Tabbed as GLIAC North Division Player of the Week

Bay City, Mich. - Grand Valley State sophomore forward Briauna Taylor has been named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week on Monday (Nov. 29), as announced by the league offices. Taylor helped #16 GVSU to a pair of home victories last week, as the Lakers defeated Rochester and #20 Wisconsin-Parkside in moving to 4-0 on the season. It is the first GLIAC Player of the Week award of Taylor's career.

The Lakers continued their season-opening four-game win streak last week with an 84-47 victory over Rochester last Tuesday (Nov. 23) and a 64-50 win over nationally-ranked Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (Nov. 27). Taylor averaged 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 50.0 percent (16-32) from the field in the two wins.

Against Rochester, Taylor shot 8-of-10 from the floor and made her only three-point attempt for 18 points in just 19 minutes, while adding three rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals. She followed that performance with her second career double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds in the victory over Wisconsin-Parkside in a match-up of top-20 teams. Taylor's 10 rebounds tied her career-high, as GVSU put together a solid 14-point win over the Rangers.

Grand Valley State opens up GLIAC play this week with a pair of home games against two Ohio schools. The Lakers take on Ohio Dominican on Thursday (Dec. 2) at 8:00 p.m. and Tiffin on Saturday (Dec. 4) at 3:00 p.m.
