Western Soccer falls 1-0 in Joplin against 1-0 Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Missouri Western soccer team fell in their last road contest of the season by a score of 1-0 against the Missouri Southern Lions in Joplin, Mo. Western had five shots with four on goal as they fall to 2-9-5 overall and 2-7-5 in MIAA play.

The first half was slow as the two team combined for just five shots. The Lions had three shots to the Griffons two. The second half picked up as the Griffons had three more shots.

The Lions picked up seven more shots with one being a goal in the 81st minute. Sarah Evers scored her second goal of the year off a give and go from Shannon Kuhn from 15 yards out.

Jenna Weis recorded one save in net for Western while Randi Russell had four for the Lions. Missouri Southern improves to 4-8-4 overall and 4-6-4 in MIAA play.

Western will return to action on Thursday, November 5 when they host the Truman State Bulldogs in Spratt Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
