Mars Hill Defeats Newberry in Three Sets

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team defeated Newberry in three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-16 inside Stanford Arena. The Lions improve to 10-11 overall, 6-11 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Wolves fall to 13-15 overall, 5-11 in the league.

Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) led the Mars Hill attack with 13 kills. Jenna Luke (Mishawaka, Ind.) and Laura Ann Huskey (Hendersonville, N.C.) posted 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Maggie Murphy (Richmond, Va.) had 21 digs. Marissa Wixson (Spring, Texas) and Rachel Rheinheimer (Elkhart, Ind.) followed up with 19 and digs, respectively. Becca Smith (Candler, N.C.) dished out 43 assists.

Samantha Parrish (Angola, Ind.) had a team-high 10 kills for Newberry. Brianna Blakely (Houston, Texas) recorded 20 digs, while Kara Harris (Grandview, Texas) had 11. Blair Browning (New Lexington, Ohio) chipped in 27 assists.

Mars Hill will travel to Carson-Newman on Tuesday. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m.
