Greyhound Soccer Team Falls at #17 Incarnate Word

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS—  Just 30 days after playing to a tie with University of the Incarnate Word, the Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team (8-7-2; LSC 2-4-1) dropped a 4-0 decision to the 17th-ranked Cardinals (11-2-3, LSC 3-2-2) in Lone Star Conference action, Sunday afternoon at Benson Stadium.

Callum Riley scored twice in the opening 9:50 of the contest and Tenny Adebowale scored UIW’s third goal of the first 10:25 to give the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead. Riley completed his hat trick with 16:33 left in the game.

All five of the Greyhounds shots came in the second half, with Kal Herbert (So., M, Willaston, England/Neston HS) having two of Eastern’s three shots on goal. Chris Sheridan (Fr., GK, Spring, Texas/Kein Oak HS) played the final 74:41 in net for the Hounds and made six saves. Jarred Kahan made three saves for the Cardinals to register his third win of the season.

The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team will conclude their 2010 season on Friday, when they host second-ranked Midwestern State. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. MST.
