Mars Hill falls to Anderson, 74-63
Anderson's Alexa Neal led all scorers with 19 points. Ashley Abed added a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Alissa Diaz followed up with 10 points.
Diaz and Neal, with an old-fashioned three-point play, gave the Trojans an early 9-3 lead three minutes into the game. Anderson led for most of the first half and grabbed its first double-digit lead (40-29) with five seconds remaining off a trey by Amanda Parris.
Mars Hill opened the second half on fire and whittled the deficit to 44-43 off a layup by Tyler Carlson. Carlson and Brittini Young scored all of Mars Hill's points in the first 11:23 of the second half. A Young layup with 10:43 left in the game gave the Lions the upper hand, 49-47.
Anderson responded with a 6-0 run, and Mars Hill never regained the lead. The Trojans led by as many as 13 points (70-57) with 1:43 remaining off a shot from behind the arc by Neal.
Young finished the game with 18 points. Carlson added 15 points, while Jocelyn Williams had 10 points.
Anderson was 10-24 from three-point range, while Mars Hill was 6-19.
