Frantz Leads Four Warriors on NFHCA Division II All-America Team

EAST STROUDSBURG – Forward Jessica Frantz was named to the first team and midfielders Brittany Kocis and Joanna Reckley and back Kayla Cilenti were all placed on the second team as the NFHCA announced its Division II All-America team for the 2010 field hockey season on Tuesday.

Frantz (Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley) finished the season as the leading scorer in Division II with a school-record 32 goals and earned her second career All-America honor. She was named to the NFHCA second team as a sophomore at IUP in 2008, then recorded 46 goals and 16 assists in two years at ESU including her record-setting total this season.

Frantz’s 32 goals are the third-most in PSAC history and her 70 points, also an ESU record, stand sixth all-time in the conference. She tied the school record with five goals in a 9-4 win vs. Mansfield on Sept. 15 and had four hat tricks, five other games with two goals and scored at least one goal in 17 of the Warriors’ 23 games.

Reckley (Temple/Muhlenberg) was named to the second team for the second straight season and had seven goals and seven assists as a senior. She had three goals and eight assists last year and collected 15 goals and 19 assists as a four-year starter for the Warriors.

Kocis (Mechanicsville/Central Bucks East) is the third member of her family to earn All-America recognition for ESU in the last seven seasons. She had seven goals and tied the school record with 14 assists to join her sisters Nicole, who was on the second team in 2004, and Ashley, who was the national Player of the Year in 2006. Brittany finished her four-year career with 22 goals and 22 assists and ranks fourth in career assists at ESU.

Cilenti (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) picked up second team honors as she contributed six goals and five assists at the offensive end along with strong play on the defensive half of the field. She was first team All-PSAC East in 2008 and 2010 and was a three-year starter between the midfield and back.

ESU had four All-Americans on the NFHCA squad for the sixth time and also placed four players on the team in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2004 and 2006. ESU has had at least one All-American in every season since 1992.

The Warriors played in the NCAA Division II Tournament for the second straight season in 2010 and finished the year with a 17-6 record, tying the school record for victories. They also played in the PSAC championship game for the second time in school history after upsetting Shippensburg, the eventual national runner-up, by a 2-1 score in the PSAC semifinals.
