Warriors rout Pacifica in final exhibition

TURLOCK — In their final preseason tune-up, the Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team again had little trouble in an exhibition contest. Thursday night, the Warriors routed Pacifica College, 97-46, at Fitzpatrick Arena.

Every Warrior payed at least 11 minutes in the game and four of them scored 11 or more points on Nov. 11 as Stanislaus went 2-0 in its warm-up games. The Warriors open regular season play in a conference game next Thursday when Chico State visits.

Dwight Jones led the team with 13 points with three others -- Reggie Jones, Evan Scott and Brett Sayad -- each scored 11. Dan Daviess and Bryan Garbez each added nine with Prince Abidoye chipping in eight.

The Warriors also out-rebounded the Gladiators, 51-33, with Scott pulling seven in a team-rebouding effort. Nine other Warriors had at least three rebounds each.

Reggie Jones, who missed last Saturday's exhibition against UC Merced, was impressive early as he scored seven of the game's first nine points with three field goals.

For the game, the Warriors shot 54.2 percent from the field including a 23-for-38 tally (60.5 percent) in the first half. Pacifica was held down to 21.2 percent shooting in the first half, resulting in a 59-22 Stanislaus halftime lead.
