LIBERTY, Mo.- Adams State College junior linebacker Rocco DeLorenzo (Arvada, Colo.) recently received D2Football.com National Defensive Player of the Week honors after he matched a career-high by making 17 tackles in the Grizzlies' 41-34 double overtime win over Mesa State on Nov. 6.
DeLorenzo had also been selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Rawlings Defensive Player of the Week by conference officials for the effort, which also included a fumble recovery and half-tackle for a loss.
Despite missing one game due to injury, DeLorenzo finished the season with 99 tackles, second most in the RMAC, and was ranked 14th in last week's NCAA Division II statistics for tackles per game (10.44).
The Grizzlies finished the 2010 campaign with a 2-game winning streak after claiming a 28-19 road win at arch-rival Western State on Saturday. That was the Grizzlies' ninth straight victory over the Mountaineers and allows the Grizzlies to retain the Colorado Classic trophy for another year.
The Grizzlies finished in the top half of the RMAC standings for the third straight year posting 5-6 overall and 4-5 RMAC records.
