Bobcats Out-Run Pacers, 74-55

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Maurice Smith era continued its dominance as the Georgia College women’s basketball team (2-0) decimated the USC Aiken Pacers (2-1), 74-55. The Bobcats had five scorers in double-digits.

For the second game in a row senior Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) led all scorers. Jordan tallied 19 points, while shooting 50 percent (7-14) from the field. She also chipped in with seven boards, two blocks and two steals.

Georgia College took the lead 2-1 on a layup by Tammeisha Law (Athens, Ga.) and would not relinquish the lead from there. The Bobcats went up by as many as 12 during the first half, finishing off the first stanza with a 29-20 lead.

Law finished with 15 points, five boards and shot 5-6 from the line.

The Bobcats were not done, starting off the second half on an 8-0 run going up by as many as 17. The Bobcats expanded their lead to 20 with the help of bench player Ashleigh Fox (Lilburn, Ga.) who racked up 12 points, shooting 50 percent (5-10) from the field and 2 of 6 (.300) from beyond the arc.

Karisma Boykin (Carrollton, Ga.) contributed in all facets of the game, scoring 10 points, pulling down nine boards and dishing out nine assists. Also in double-digits was Dominique Huffin (Tucker, Ga.) with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists

Georgia College shot an incredible 62.5 percent (5-8) from three and 14-24 (.583) from the field in the second half.

Aiken shot 32.8 (19-58) percent from the field and only 26.3 percent (5-19) from three-point range. The Pacers leading scorer was Hannah DeGraffinreed with 12 points and four rebounds. They also had contribution from Kayla Harris with 11 points and four rebounds.

Despite five more turnovers than Aiken (16-11), GC outscored the Pacers in the paint 24-18 and had eight-second chance points. The ‘Cats won the rebound battle 43-30 and also shot 16-20 (.800) from the charity stripe.

The Bobcats are back in action hosting the University of West Georgia Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Centennial Center.
